Met Missie H2 slaan diverse partijen uit de waterstofketen de handen ineen om Nederland kennis te laten maken met de mogelijkheden van waterstof (H2). Gasunie, Groningen Seaports, Port of Amsterdam, Remeha, Shell Nederland en Stedin Groep waren al van de partij. Nu haakt ook Toyota Nederland (Louwman & Parqui) aan. Een logische stap, gezien de Mirai en de plannen van Toyota op het gebied van waterstof.
Energiedrager
Missie H2 wil waterstof promoten als belangrijke en duurzame energiedrager voor de toekomst, onder meer met behulp van de kracht van Olympische en Paralympische sport. Missie H2 werkt hiervoor samen met sportorganisatie NOC*NSF. De samenwerking tussen sportorganisatie NOC*NSF en waterstofconsortium Missie H2 is verlengd tot de Olympische en Paralympische Spelen in 2021 in Tokio.
Nul emissies
“Toyota voert een krachtige langetermijnvisie uit naar nul emissies. Al in 1997 introduceerden we als eerste automerk de zelfopladende hybrideauto, de Toyota Prius. Ook zijn we met de Toyota Mirai, die in 2014 werd onthuld, de eerste met een brandstofcelsedan die op waterstof rijdt”, zegt Jan-Christiaan Koenders, managing director Toyota importeur Louwman & Parqui. “Als enige wereldwijde mobiliteitspartner van zowel de Olympische als de Paralympische Spelen wil Toyota van de spelen in Tokio een showcase maken van zijn toekomstvisie met betrekking tot waterstof. Ook in Nederland zien we een belangrijke rol voor waterstof weggelegd.”
‘Nederland Waterstofland’
Ulco Vermeulen, bestuurslid Gasunie: “Extra mooi is dat met de komst van Toyota Nederland nu alle schakels uit de waterstofketen in Missie H2 zijn vertegenwoordigd. Van producent tot eindgebruiker. Samen maken we van Nederland Waterstofland. Energietransitie is per slot van rekening teamsport.”
Waterstof onmisbaar?
Volgens menig expert is waterstof onmisbaar voor een emissievrije toekomst en een uitstekend alternatief voor fossiele brandstoffen.
