De Toyota bZ4X Concept wordt leverbaar met de allereerste combinatie (in een massa geproduceerde auto) van een nieuw stuurelement en een steer-by-wire-systeem. Deze technologie geeft de bestuurder meer controle, doordat het systeem bewegingen in de stuurinrichting op slecht wegdek en remkrachten niet doorgeeft. Dit moet zorgen voor een nog nauwkeuriger stuurrespons op basis van de gereden snelheid en de stuurhoek. Door de technologie komt ook het traditionele ronde stuurwiel te vervallen. Daarvoor in de plaats komt een nieuw stuurelement, waarmee de bestuurder zijn handen in een bocht niet meer hoeft te verplaatsen, wat het rijplezier vergroot.

Toyota deelt ‘beyond Zero’ op in vier aspecten. De eerste en belangrijkste daarvan is ‘You and the Environment’. Dat gaat niet alleen om de energie die de auto verbruikt, maar ook om hoe die daarbij kan gebruikmaken van regeneratieve en hernieuwbare energie, zoals zonne-energie.
Het tweede aspect is ‘You and Your Car’. Daarbij maakt een batterij-elektrische auto niet alleen gebruik van een speciaal daarvoor ontwikkeld platform, maar ook van de nieuwste technologieën. De auto biedt uitstekende connectiviteit voor meer veiligheid, gemoedsrust en een leuke rijbeleving.
