De bestuurder kan ook de 40 kW generator inschakelen om met de benzinemotor het accupakket op te laden. Volledig opgeladen realiseert deze C30 een elektrische actieradius van 75 kilometer en met een volle tank brandstof bedraagt het totale bereik 1.075 kilometer.
Volvo V60 parallel-connected Range Extender
Tot slot is er het ‘Volvo V60 parallel-connected Range Extender’-concept (zie foto). In dit geval is de range extender onder de motorkap bij de (80 kW) elektromotor van de plug-in hybride V60 geplaatst. De 140 kW sterke driecilinder turbomotor, die ook geschikt is voor E85, drijft in eerste instantie de voorwielen aan via een automatische transmissie met twee verzetten.
