Polestar is gestart met de productie van de Polestar 2 in Luqiao, China. Volgens Thomas Ingenlath, CEO van Polestar, een bijzondere gebeurtenis, helemaal nu er tijdens de coronacrisis juist fabrieken op slot gaan.
Bijzonder moment
De Polestar 2 is een vijfdeurs fastback en is de eerste elektrische auto die in de fabriek in Luqiao wordt gebouwd. Thomas Ingenlath, CEO van Polestar: “De wereld staat op z’n kop door de coronavirus-pandemie. We starten met de productie onder uitdagende omstandigheden en hebben een sterke focus op de gezondheid en veiligheid van onze mensen. Dit is een geweldige prestatie en het resultaat van enorme inspanningen van zowel de teams in de fabriek als daarbuiten in de leveranciersketen. In onze fabriek in Luqiao kunnen we direct vanaf het begin de Polestar 2 bouwen volgens hoge bouw- en kwaliteitsnormen.”
Eigendom van Geely
Polestar is eigendom van Zhejiang Geely Holding en wordt aangestuurd door Volvo Cars. Vandaar dat de Polestar 2 ook wat Volvo-trekjes heeft en de aandrijflijn identiek is aan die van de Volvo XC40 Recharge. De Polestar 2 is in zijn eerste productiejaar beschikbaar met twee elektromotor met een systeemvermogen van 408 pk, vierwielaandrijving en een 78 kWh sterke lithium-ion accu met een maximaal bereik van 470 kilometer volgens de WLTP-testcyclus. Een goedkopere variant met een kleinere batterij en dus range volgt in een later stadium.
Eerst Europa
