Elektrische Polestar Precept gaat in productie
Ontwikkeling al van start
Het automerk Polestar – dat in handen is van Zhejiang Geely Holding en wordt aangestuurd door Volvo Cars – komt met een productieversie van de Precept. De Polestar Precept werd eerder in 2020 onthuld en kreeg alleen maar lovende reacties. Voor Polestar reden genoeg om de stoplichten op groen te zetten.

“‘Prachtig. Spectaculair. Geavanceerd. We willen hem graag op de weg zien!’- dat is wat de media schreven en het publiek zei toen de Precept werd onthuld. We hebben dan ook besloten om de auto te gaan bouwen”, zegt Thomas Ingenlath, CEO van Polestar.
Designrichting
De Precept laat de toekomstige designrichting zien van Polestar. De auto benadrukt ook de koers die Polestar volgt op het gebied van digitale technologie en de toepassing van duurzame materialen in het in- en exterieur.
Productie in China
De productontwikkeling is al gestart. De productie van het model vindt straks plaats in China, waar een nieuwe productiefaciliteit wordt gerealiseerd. Polestar wil dat deze nieuwe locatie CO2-neutraal wordt. Deze klimaatpositieve aanpak is begonnen in de eerste productiefaciliteit van Polestar in Chengdu, waar de Polestar 1 wordt gebouwd.
Laagste ecologische voetafdruk
“China is een thuismarkt voor Polestar en we erkennen de steeds belangrijkere drang naar meer duurzaamheid hier”, vervolgt Thomas Ingenlath. “Met deze nieuwe fabriek leggen we de lat weer hoger, met als doel om in China de meest geavanceerde en hoogwaardige elektrische auto met de laagste ecologische voetafdruk te produceren.”
Materialen
Het interieur van de Polestar Precept bestaat uit een mix van duurzame materialen, waaronder gerecyclede petflessen, teruggewonnen visnetten en gerecycled kurkvinyl. Een op vlas gebaseerd composiet, ontwikkeld door partner Bcomp Ltd, wordt toegepast in veel interieur- en sommige exterieuronderdelen. Het is de ambitie van Polestar om veel van de duurzame materialen daadwerkelijk toe te passen in de productieversie. Wanneer die komt, is nog niet duidelijk. Reken op eind 2021, begin 2022.
