Subaru Europe, de Europese dochteronderneming van Subaru Corporation, bevestigt dat er een volledig elektrisch aangedreven SUV in aantocht is. De introductie staat gepland voor de eerste helft van het decennium 2020-2030.
Middelgrote elektrische SUV
De middelgrote elektrische SUV van Subaru is qua afmetingen vergelijkbaar met de Subaru Forester. Het model wordt gebouwd op een met Toyota gedeeld platform. In 2021 maakt Subaru meer informatie bekend over het model.
e-TNGA
De basis voor de elektrische SUV van Subaru wordt gevormd door het zogeheten e-TNGA-platform van Toyota. Door het modulaire karakter van dit platform kan de ontwikkelingstijd van verschillende modelvariaties verkort worden. De breedte, lengte, hoogte en wielbasis van een model dat op het e-TNGA-platform staat, kan compleet variëren. Het platform is geschikt voor voor-, achter- en vierwielaandrijving en biedt mogelijkheden voor meerdere vormen van geëlektrificeerde aandrijving. Vierwielaandrijving is voor Subaru interessant, aangezien dit een van de USP’s is van het Japanse merk.
