Autotest – hoe bevalt de Opel Ampera-e in Nederland?
Vier redenen waarom je de Opel Ampera-e moet overwegen
Eerder dit jaar maakten we al kort kennis met de Opel Ampera-e, de nieuwe elektrische auto van Opel met een theoretische actieradius van 520 kilometer. Nu testen we hem een aantal dagen in Nederland. En we zijn opnieuw positief gestemd. Deze auto wordt een succes, durven we te voorspellen. We noemen vier redenen waarom.
Actieradius bepalend
Het succes van een elektrische auto wordt vrijwel volledig bepaald door de actieradius. Dat is de afgelopen jaren wel gebleken. Het grote publiek zit niet te wachten op een auto die niet verder komt dan 150 kilometer en daarna weer urenlang moet worden opladen. “Want daar heb je niets aan”, hoor je vaak. Zelfs bij EV’s met een realistische actieradius van 200 tot 250 kilometer zijn automobilisten nog terughoudend.
Terecht of onterecht, van een massale doorbraak op het gebied van elektrisch rijden is vooralsnog geen sprake. Ja, Tesla doet het relatief goed in ons land. Deels door subsidie, maar vooral omdat je met deze auto wel honderden kilometers zorgeloos kunt rijden zonder tussentijds te laden.
1 – Vrijheid
Zorgeloos rijden, dat is het toverwoord. Niet hoeven nadenken, niet om de haverklap op zoek naar een oplaadpunt. Geen verlengsnoer via het raam naar buiten als bij je werkafspraak of schoonfamilie geen laadpunt beschikbaar is.
Bij de Opel Ampera-e is dat allemaal niet aan de orde, blijkt als we het elektrische model voor het eerst op Hollandse bodem rijden, in onze vertrouwde omgeving, met de vaste dagelijkse ritjes. Om te beginnen maken we er geen zuinigheidstest van. We rijden gewoon de toegestane snelheid, dus ook 130 km/u waar mogelijk.
In het begin houden we de resterende actieradius nauwlettend in de gaten, maar al snel realiseer je je dat het nog lang gaat duren totdat die batterij leeg is. En dat geeft rust. Het gemiddelde stroomverbruik op de Nederlandse wegen, zonder bergen en op goede kwaliteit asfalt, schommelt tussen de 16 en 16,5 kWh/100 km. Daarmee halen we ruim 360 kilometer uit een volle accu.
En het kan zuiniger. Sowieso is rijden op de snelweg niet in het voordeel van het energieverbruik van een EV. Ook blijkt dat het verschil in stroomverbruik bij 100 of 130 km/u vrij groot is. Ergens tussenin zit een duidelijk kantelpunt. Automobilisten die weinig gebruikmaken van de snelweg moeten in de buurt van de 400 kilometer kunnen komen.
2 – Opladen Opel Ampera-e
In de nieuwe Opel Ampera-e ervaren we dezelfde vrijheid als bij een conventionele auto. Geen moment maken wij ons druk om de resterende accucapaciteit. Pas na vijf werkdagen besluiten we de Opel Ampera-e aan de lader te hangen.
Elke dag op en neer naar kantoor, paar afspraken buiten de deur, ritje naar de supermarkt, schoonfamilie, sportschool en ga zo maar door… En ook die kleine 90 kilometer rijafstand vanuit de Opel-importeur naar huis mag niet worden vergeten. En toch hoeven we maar één keer per week te laden.
We hadden de Ampera-e ook eerder kunnen opladen. Er waren genoeg momenten dat het uitkwam. Ook reden we een paar keer langs een Fastned-snellaadstation en dachten we hardop: “zullen we even in 30 minuten 150 kilometer rijbereik bijladen?” Ja, had gekund, maar het was niet nodig.
Uiteindelijk parkeren de Ampera-e bij een openbare laadpaal bij ons om de hoek, rond half negen ’s avonds met nog 65 kilometer rijbereik in de accu. Na het inpluggen verschijnt op het beeldscherm van de auto hoe laat de laadsessie voltooid is. In dit geval de volgende ochtend om 8.45 uur.
Onze eerste gedachte was: dat duurt best lang. Aan de andere kant: een 60 kWh-accu is ook niet niks. Maar het maakt ons niets uit, want we gaan in de tussentijd toch nergens heen. En de volgende dag hebben we een volgeladen auto waarmee we weer een weekje kunnen rondtuffen.
3 – Prima gezinsauto
De nieuwe, langverwachte Opel Ampera-e is de eerste elektrische auto met een realistisch rijbereik van ruim 300 kilometer en een prijs onder de 50.000 euro. Dat bewijs is geleverd. Maar het is ook een prima gezinsauto.
De Ampera-e is een soort opgeblazen vijfdeurs hatchback. Hij is met een lengte van 4,16 meter iets korter dan een Opel Astra vijfdeurs, maar wel aanzienlijk hoger. Dat komt doordat het forse accupakket in de boden van de auto gemonteerd is. Je zit er als het ware bovenop.
De zitpositie is relatief hoog, je hebt opmerkelijk veel beenruimte achterin en de kofferbak is groter (381 liter) dan bij een Astra. Ook goed over nagedacht zijn de twee usb-poorten voor passagiers achterin.

4 – Leuk om te rijden
Een roffelend uitlaatgeluid of een huilende benzinemotor die het hart van de autoliefhebber sneller laat kloppen, kun je bij een elektrische auto wel vergeten. Maar dat betekent niet dat een EV geen rijplezier kan bieden. Sterker nog, de Opel Ampera-e is verrassend leuk om te rijden.
De elektromotor is gekoppeld aan een traploze automaat en levert 150 kW (204 pk) vermogen en 360 Nm trekkracht vanuit stilstand. Zoals bij elke elektrische auto is de reactie op het gaspedaal ongekend fel. De auto schiet onmiddellijk van z’n plek. Je hoort de motor lichtjes fluiten. Net een spaceship.
In de Sport-stand wordt de Ampera-e echt giftig. In deze modus is het een serieus snelle auto met sprinttijden die horen bij een sportwagen. Die abrupte versnelling zonder enige vertraging heeft een verslavende werking. Een stoplichtsprint win je per definitie.
Ook leuk is ‘One Pedal Driving’. Als je het gaspedaal (of beter gezegd ‘stroompedaal’) loslaat en de auto laat uitrollen, werkt de elektromotor als generator. Op dat moment wordt energie opgewekt en in de accu opgeslagen.
Door de automaatpook in stand ‘L’ te zetten, is de remkracht bij gas los zodanig krachtig, dat je in stadsverkeer door goed te anticiperen het rempedaal nauwelijks meer aanraakt. Met een knop achter het stuur kun je die remkracht nog verder vergroten.
Je bent er snel vertrouwd mee en het wordt op den duur een sport om alleen in noodgevallen het rempedaal te gebruiken. Als je deze functie actief gebruikt, kun je tientallen kilometers extra rijbereik terugwinnen.
Zijn er ook tegenvallers?
Er zijn wel een paar punten die potentiële kopers mogelijk kunnen afschrikken. De Opel Ampera-e is in eerste instantie alleen leverbaar in de uitvoering Launch Executive voor de prijs vanaf 44.995 euro. De levering van de 40.995 euro kostende Innovation-uitvoering start begin 2018 en wegens de beperkte productiecapaciteit kan de levertijd oplopen tot ver in 2018. Informeer bij de dealer over exacte levertijden en of er nog Launch Executive-uitvoeringen beschikbaar zijn.
Verder is het opvallend dat de door ons gereden Opel Ampera-e Launch Executive behoorlijk luxe is uitgevoerd, met zaken als lederen bekleding, verwarmbare achterbank, adaptive cruise control, 17-inch lichtmetalen wielen, grote beeldschermen, draadloze telefoonlader en nog veel meer, maar geen navigatie. Dat is alleen mogelijk voor iPhone-gebruikers die hun telefoon via usb aansluiten. Android-gebruikers hebben pech. Of koop een TomTom.
Het interieur biedt ook niet de kwaliteit die we van Opel gewend zijn. Zowel op het gebied van materialen als afwerking is flink bespaard. Dat moet ook wel, want de aandrijftechniek is vooralsnog erg kostbaar. Anders zou deze Opel zich uit de markt prijzen. De basisprijs van 40.995 is al niet voor iedereen weggelegd.

Ik heb de Ampera e als tijdelijke auto in afwachting van een Kia E Niro. Ik ben positief verrast door deze auto, vooral de binnenruimte is prima. Ik moest even aan de stoelen wennen, maar die zijn eigenlijk best goed ( ik rijd 50.000 per jaar). Het ontbreken van Navi is raar, zeker in een electrische auto verwacht je functionaliteit die bereik en beschikbare laadvoorziening moet matchen. Overigens kan je met Android icm Android auto gewoon prima navigeren. Ook jammer dat er geen afstandsafhankelijke cruiscontrol op zit. Maar verder is het gewoon een prima auto. Jammer dat Opel zijn verkoopkanaal er niet op had ingericht, dit had namelijk een verkoopkanon kunnen worden, en nu stoppen ze er zelfs mee!
Wij zijn net terug van een vakantie met onze Opel Ampera-e (aangeschaft in november 2018) heen en terug naar Almunecar in Zuid Spanje. De heenweg was een avontuur i.v.m. af en toe slecht functionerende laadpompen in Frankrijk en Spanje en gewenning. Op de terugweg ging alles veel vlotter omdat we wisten waar we zonder problemen konden laden. Ook moesten we diverse oplaadpassen en oplaadapps gebruiken. Al met al een interessante reis voor nieuwe e-rijders. Ik heb een levendig verslag gemaakt van deze reis, die ik eventueel wil delen met geïnteresseerden of wil downloaden op deze website! We zijn ZEER positief over onze electrische auto!! Fred.
Ampera E nu 4 weken in gebruik ….. en ben 100% tevreden. Actieradius is gemiddeld 400 km en de stoelen (bekleding stof) voldoen prima. Mogelijk dat bij mensen met een te hoge BMI ze minder prettig zitten, dan zou ik zeggen ga werken aan je BMI en je zit prima.
Ik ben benieuwd hoe de vakantie rit naar het Comomeer verloopt ….. ben nu de planning aan het maken. En anders onthaast ik gewoon; bij elk fatsoenlijk hotel zijn laadpalen.
Voorheen Opel Insignia gereden (4 jaar / 210.000 / diesel ) –> prima auto, maar slecht voor mijn oren (Tinitus), slecht voor m’n linker kuit (zwaar schakelpedaal ….. file rijden was pijnlijk) EN ik zorg voor minder slechte lucht voor de mensen in dorpen, steden en langs de snelweg.
VERBRUIK DIESEL 100 km = € 6,50 …… Ampera E 100 km = € 3,35 (16 kWh per 100 km
Ik heb de Launch-versie sinds medio november 2017 en inmiddels 17000 km op de teller staan. Het was in het begin wennen. De auto is zeer stug geveerd. Over een hobbelig wegdek wordt je van links naar rechts geschud. Heel onprettig. De actieradius is prima en komt overeen met die uit de testritten, waarbij de buitentemperatuur grote invloed heeft. De afwerking is inderdaad Amerikaans en slecht. Dan heb ik het niet over de gebruikte materialen. De bestuurdersdeur sluit niet goed af en zit scheef in het portier. Het dashboard zit niet goed, waardoor de afstand tot de beide voorportieren ruim 1 cm verschilt. Dat is geen gezicht, maar niet te herstellen. Het is (gelukkig) een leaseauto.

Ik rijd nu ruim een maand in een Ampera e maar ervaar geen enkel probleem met zitcomfort.
De Opel Ampera-e heeft geen adaptive cruise control. Het display geeft de afstand tot de voorganger wel aan in seconden, maar daar wordt niets mee gedaan.
Ik mis 1 heel belangrijk minpunt aan deze auto: ik heb zelden zulke slechte stoelen meegemaakt. Ik heb een proefrit van 3 uur in deze auto gemaakt, omdat ik veel kilometers maak. Maar de stoelen hebben het rijgenot, wat je zeker in deze auto hebt, helemaal verziekt. Ik begrijp niet dat Opel (sorry Chevrolet) in een dergelijke auto, stoelen van deze kwaliteit kan plaatsen.
Voor mij de reden om af te zien van deze auto!
Voor de rest ben ik het helemaal eens met deze autotest.
