In de eerste drie maanden heeft de familie 67 procent van hun CO2-emissie afgesnoept. Voor het project begon produceerde de Lindell-familie gezamenlijk een CO2-uitstoot van 7,29 ton CO2. Drie maanden later bedraagt de CO2-uitstoot van de familie nog maar 2,7 ton. Een uitstekende prestatie die vooral te danken is aan het One Tonne Life-huis dat voorzien is van zonnecellen, windmolens en energiezuinige apparaten. De elektrische C30 die de benzineauto van het gezin vervangt, heeft de CO2-uitstoot op het gebied van transport met 93 procent gereduceerd. In aanvulling op deze technologische CO2-bespaarders heeft de familie ook hun levensstijl en eetgewoontes aangepast.
Compromissen
Volgens moeder Alicia hebben de veranderingen weinig invloed op de levensstijl die ze gewend waren. “Tot dusver hebben we niet echt veel van onze levensstijl hoeven veranderen om onze CO2-uitstoot te verlagen. Vooral de geadvanceerde technologie maakt leven in huis zeer aangenaam. We zijn goed op weg om eind dit jaar minder dan een ton CO2 te produceren, maar ik denk dat we de komende maanden wel drastisch onze levensstijl moeten veranderen.”
