Het belang van een goede autoverzekering
Wanneer je in het bezit bent van een auto (motorrijtuig) ben je wettelijk verplicht deze te verzekeren. Dit doe je door een autoverzekering af te sluiten en dit is erg belangrijk. Het is namelijk zo dat wanneer je dit niet doet, je een flinke boete op kunt lopen. Daarnaast liep je in het verleden zelfs risico op een gevangenisstraf, ook kon je rijbewijs ingenomen worden. Tegenwoordig kun je dus alleen nog een fikse geldboete oplopen en dat is niet iets wat je wilt. Ben je benieuwd naar waarom een autoverzekering zo belangrijk is? Lees hier verder.
Waarom verplicht een autoverzekering afsluiten?
In 1963 in de WAM tot stand gekomen. WAM staat voor ‘Wet Aansprakelijkheidsverzekering Motorrijtuigen’ en is ontwikkeld om eventuele slachtoffers te beschermen. Een autoverzekering heeft alles met deze wet te maken, want volgens deze wet moet iedere auto minimaal een WAM verzekering hebben. Echter is deze wet niet alleen voor autobezitters, maar ook voor verzekeraars gelden bepaalde eisen. Zo moet de verzekering bijvoorbeeld minimaal 1 miljoen euro uitkeren aan een letselschadeslachtoffer, of 5 miljoen euro per gebeurtenis.
Gevolgen van het niet afsluiten van een autoverzekering
Zoals hierboven al eerder beschreven werd, hangen er ook gevolgen aan het niet afsluiten van een autoverzekering. Een hiervan is dus een fikse geldboete van maar liefst 400 euro. Echter is het zelfs zo dat wanneer de politie je staande houd en je bent niet verzekerd, dan riskeer je een geldboete van 550 euro. Bij het herhaaldelijk overtreden van deze overtreding kan deze geldboete driemaal per jaar worden uitgeschreven. Wees dus echt goed voorbereid en zorg ervoor dat je een goede autoverzekering afsluit.
Tijdelijk je autoverzekering stopzetten, kan dat?
Ja, dat kan. Stel je gaat voor een langere periode naar het buitenland, en je gebruikt je auto niet, dan kun je je kenteken schorsen en de autoverzekering tijdelijk stopzetten. Let op! Hier gelden wel strenge eisen voor en het schorsen kan voor moeilijkheden zorgen om je auto opnieuw te laten verzekeren bij terugkomst.
Welke autoverzekering moet ik kiezen?
Het is altijd handig om verschillende autoverzekeringen met elkaar te vergelijken. Een goede autoverzekering is namelijk erg belangrijk. Je wilt namelijk niet met lege handen staan als er iets met je auto gebeurt. Mocht je nou niet in staat zijn om schade aan de auto zelf te betalen of de auto te vervangen bij hoge reparatiekosten (of total loss) dan is een all risk autoverzekering altijd een goede keuze. mocht je wel in staat zijn om alle kosten zelf te dekken, dan kunnen andere vormen van verzekeren ook erg geschikt zijn. Onderzoek dus voor jezelf wat je wel en niet kunt en waar je wel en geen waarde aan hecht.
