BYD heeft plannen voor Europese fabriek
De Chinese autofabrikant BYD heeft aangekondigd een nieuwe fabriek in Europa te willen openen. De elektrische stadsbussen van BYD worden al geruime tijd in verschillende Europese landen getest. De resultaten zijn positief en de vraag naar de schone bussen neemt sterk toe.
Dat heeft BYD-topman Isbrand Ho bekendgemaakt op de internationale vakbeurs Busworld. Ho benadrukt dat BYD zo’n 100 exemplaren in Europa moet verkopen om een fabriek te kunnen rechtvaardigen. Dat aantal komt steeds dichterbij.
In het eerste kwartaal van 2013 heeft de BYD-bus een Europese typegoedkeuring ontvangen, waardoor het merk de elektrische bussen kan promoten en verkopen. In diverse Europese landen zijn al BYD-bussen in de dienstregeling opgenomen. Op het Waddeneiland Schiermonnikoog rijden inmiddels zes BYD-bussen en luchthaven Schiphol heeft 35 exemplaren besteld.
Het hart van de eBus wordt gevormd door een krachtige Fe-accu (lithium ijzer fosfaat). Het energieverbruik is circa 130 kWh/100 km in stedelijke omstandigheden en de actieradius bedraagt 250 kilometer. BYD biedt ook speciale voorzieningen om winterse temperaturen te bestrijden, waaronder dubbele beglazing en bijverwarmingssystemen.
