BMW bevestigt elektrische X1 en 5 Serie

Dat BMW met een volledig elektrische BMW 7 Serie komt, is geen verrassing meer. Maar BMW heeft meer in petto. Zo komt het merk ook met een volledig elektrische variant van de BMW 5 Serie en BMW X1. Dat bevestigt Pieter Nota, lid van de Raad van Bestuur voor Sales en Marketing, in een interview met AutoRAI.nl/ZERauto.nl.
“Het is onze intentie om van elk volumemodel een batterij-elektrische versie uit te brengen”, zegt Nota. “We komen natuurlijk – zoals reeds aangekondigd – met een BEV-versie van de 7 Serie – en binnen afzienbare tijd komen de iX3, i4 en iNEXT – een soort crossover – op de markt. Daar komen in de toekomst ook een batterij-elektrische versie van de BMW X1 en BMW 5 Serie bij.”
Nota vervolgt: “Met de BMW X1 en BMW 5 Serie volgen we dezelfde ‘Power of Choice’-filosofie als de BMW X3. De klant bepaalt dus of hij of zij kiest voor benzine, diesel, PHEV of BEV.”
De BMW X1 deelt zijn techniek met de MINI Countryman en BMW X2, maar Nota kan nog niet bevestigen of er dan ook een BEV-versie van de X2 en Countryman volgen. “Dat is iets wat we op dit moment nog onderzoeken”, aldus Nota.
